April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball athletes who have won medals in more than one Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' last chance to win an Olympic gold. The athlete is optimistic she'll be successful in achieving top honours. If we do our top or do well, I believe we'll win the gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. Therefore, I'm hoping to have a little bit of luck also. Ross born in 1982, and grew up within Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began playing sports at the Newport Harbor High School. Ross's athletic endeavors began at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of sports. As a pre-schooler she was a participant in indoor volleyball along with basketball and track. She clearly was the top at the sport of indoor volleyball. Through her high school years, she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter in the court for volleyball as per her bio at the college. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her as the National Player 1999. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman started the partnership in 2017, but Ross had been a beach-scene star for years before. As a matter of fact, Ross has won several major tournaments in her career together with two other partners. One of them is a legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 through 2013. Together, Kessy Ross was an ace on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. In 2012, the duo took silver in London's Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor clinched gold beating them to it. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. They won bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC in her college after graduating from the high school she attended. Ross had an impressive run through college. In 2000, as a freshman, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. She also helped the Trojans to make it to into the Final Four. The second season of her career she suffered a devastating personal loss, yet was able to be named an All-American. During her final two seasons with the Trojans' program the team was led to victories by winning the national title in consecutive years. The achievements of each individual have established her as a volleyball legend. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross took a course in the study of international relations in USC. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie did not get to see Ross's daughter reach the top levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross lost her mother to breast cancer in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. In the aftermath, Ross continues to be close to her deceased parent. Margie is a beach lover as well as in her everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
